New Daylight Savings Time (DST) Updates
Thank you for visiting our support website. In an attempt to address our customer base in the most effective manner, we've created this bulletin
to help our customers get the information they need to apply the patches themselves. This page contains updates to all supported versions of Microsoft operating systems, BackOffice products and
Office clients. Please install these at your earliest convenience.
The DST update is also included in Windows Updates on the Microsoft's Updates page.
To perform the update, you will need to do the following steps on every Workstation and Server.
- First, check your version of Windows - Click here
- Click the links below based on your version of Windows to run the 'DST Update'.
- Microsoft Windows Workstation DST Updates
- Windows Vista - Already up to date
- Windows XP - click on link below for XP Pro or XP Home. When prompted, click on Run or Install. Follow the instructions. **If you get this error: "Update cannot be installed as a newer or same timezone update has already been installed on the system". - You are up to date, and need to go no further
- Windows 2000 Pro - click on link below. When prompted, click on Run or Install to start the process. This update will require you to make the change manually per the instructions listed below.
- Windows 98 - click on the link below. When prompted, click on Run or Install to start the process. This update will require you to make the change manually per the instructions listed below.
- Windows Vista - Already up to date
- Microsoft Windows Server DST Updates
- 2003 Server - click on link below. When prompted, click on Run or Install. Follow the instructions.
- 2000 Server- click on the link below. When prompted, click on Run or Install to start the process. This update will require you to make the change manually per the instructions listed below.
- Microsoft Outlook - All versions
By applying the Windows DST updates, it may cause Outlook Calendar entries to show up 1 hour later than the actual time you entered for the date range of 3/11 - 4/1. You need to manually change those entries to their correct time. - Microsoft Exchange Server (This should only be performed by an IT Edge, Inc. technician)

- DST Update for Microsoft Exchange Server 2000
- DST Update for Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 SP1
- DST Update for Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 SP2
- Microsoft Service Packs
If you have Windows XP with Automatic Updates configured, you may already have the DST patch. You can confirm this via:
- Click Start -> Control Panel -> Add or Remove Programs
- Be sure to check the Show Updates box at the top of the window.
- Wait 10 seconds then scroll down to the Windows XP- Software Updates bullet.
- Do an eyeball search (somewhat tedious) for an entry labeled Update for Windows XP (KB931836)
- If you found KB931836 your machine has already been patched. If not, follow one of the steps below to install the patch yourself.
